Your partner Will Determine the Quality of Your LIFE

image

We see it all the time. Someone breaks up with their girlfriend/boyfriend and starts training with us. Before long their self esteem soars.

Soon after they find a new lover/ job and their training trails off and life goes back to a steady state they can handle.

The question I always ask: If better is possible.....is good good enough???

Thursday's Lesson Plan

Warm Up:50 Partner Medball situps

Tech: Deadlift, Hang squat clean, Thruster

WOD: The bear

5 dead
5 Hang power Clean
5 Thruster

Every min on min for 20 min

Highest weight completed wins

  1. The answer is no way. Good enough is never good enough.

The idea that it is okay for your training to trail off because you have a new relationship or job is wrong, maintinaing your health and fitness is the best thing you could ever do for your life, work and partner.

As far as finding the right person goes I think the world would be a better place if everyone had a girlfriend like mine, no war, no hatred, just peace. This is the only way I know how to describe how special B is. If you don't feel that way about your significant other you are missing out on something. Have a good day everyone.

  2. Is Machine putting on a nutrition seminar tonight, if so what time?

  3. Yeah, the world would be a better place with more B's wink

On another note, the world would be a WAY better place with less H1N1 - on my death bed all week and so I wanted to give a little advice that my doctor passed on (he's considered the top sport doc in the country and he gave me some get-back-to-training advice):
    1. If you have it, you are contagious for 5 days, so stay home... even if you feel a little better. If not for yourself, for everyone around you. I got it on Saturday after I trained at Crossfit and it seems like the most likely place I contracted it.
    2. Don't jump into WODs once you feel better. After all of your symptoms are gone, there is a progression so that you don't tax your respiratory system (causing pneumonia)
*day 1 - 20 min brisk walk; day2- 30 min brisk walk; day3- 4 min walk, 1 min run for 30 mins and progress each day (3/2, 2/3, 4/1) until you are able to jog for 30 mins straight without any symptoms. This is clearly not training advice- it's preparing your body so it can train advice!
    3. After you feel better, you can lift weights normally but be really careful that you don't get your heartrate going too much.
    4. If you have symptoms, go to your doctor and get the TamiFlu right away. I swear that this helped me. I am a naturalist at heart, but this flu is really gnarly so I recommend getting the prescription if you can.

Basically, this is to make sure you totally recover and that you don't get a second bout of it, or worse, pnemonia. The issue, really, is taxing the cardiovascular system too early which Crossfitters all will be jonesing to do but should progress to. Good luck and hope to see you all soon

  5. I couldn't agree with you anymore Lumber. Patty put it best, "convience vs. excellence" I think a lot of people are guilty of staying in relationships way to long because it is convinent, what you should be doing is striving for excellence all the time. This applies to all aspects of life, icluding my cusy union job... I'm going to try to make it in today but my legs are still f%#ked.

    ps. Mamacita, you are excellent.

  11. Epsom Salts work for 2 reasons.
They are made up of Magnesium Sulfate which is absorbed by the skin and reduces inflammation. Magnesium also functions to relax skeletal muscles.
