Feb 11 - 500 lbs Press

The press was part of the sport of weightlifting in the Olympics until 1972. It required the athlete to shoulder the bar, pause for 2 seconds, wait for the judges signal, and then lift the bar overhead until lock-out without using their lower body. It was removed from Olympic weightlifting due to difficulties in judging proper technique.

I didn't realize the oldtimers where moving this much weight. Its astounding how easy Redding makes 500lbs look. I feel like such a Nancy.

Today's Skill/Tech/Strength Element:

Shoulder Press

If you are feeling punchy then go for it. Otherwise just play with some moderately heavy triples. Either way think about pressing from a stable base and strive for that pure bar path.

Today's Workout:

Widow Makers

Add 5 or 10 lbs to your last (made) attempt

'People want to get to know who you are, especially those who you beat smile and it just looks lame to have to look at a picture of a question mark with your name attached. Just having the gumption to do the workout and post your score is enough to get respect from our community.

Put a photo of yourself up and post your scores. You will get fitter and make great friends in the process' - Patty
